Power Edition Features

Solstice Backup is an enhanced Backup server product for the Solaris operating environment. It is optimized for high-speed backup and recover operations on large amounts of complex data.

Product Overview

This release of the Power Edition supports both local and remote backup and restore operations for very large database (VLDB) -- 200 gigabytes to terabytes -- as well as large file systems.
To support the complex storage management requirements of VLDBs and other very large file systems, Sun Professional Services is available to provide complete disaster planning, installation, and optimization. Call Sun at 1-(800)-SUN-SOFT for further assistance.
This release of Power Edition provides the following enhancements over Backup Network Edition 5.1:
*Dramatically reduced CPU utilization for local backup/restore *Higher throughput for both local and remote backup/restore *64 parallel sessions and 32 devices
*Support for high speed devices such as Ampex DST-310, IBM 3590 Magstar, STK
Redwood, and Sony DTF
