Objectives and Contents
Gefahren drohen der Privatsphäre gleich von mehreren Seiten: Technologische Entwicklungen, wirtschaftliche Interessen, staatliche Kontrollen und auch die zunehmende Bereitschaft vieler Menschen, ihre eigene Privatsphäre nicht mehr ernst zu nehmen, gehen Hand in Hand. In der Vorlesung sollen diese Entwicklungen näher betrachtet und Ansätze aufgezeigt werden, wie sich der Weg in eine Überwachungsgesellschaft abbremsen und vielleicht sogar umkehren ließe. Die Vorlesung möchte das Bewusstsein schärfen im Hinblick auf die vielfältigen Aspekte von Privatsphäre und Datenschutz in der zeitgenössischen Gesellschaft, von der internationalen Politik bis zum persönlichen Alltag.
Modern information technologie endangers the privacy of users: Technological developments, economic interests, homeland security and the increasing willingness of people to take their own privacy no longer seriously, go hand in hand. In this lecture legal and technical solutions to privacy protection are presented and discussed. The lecture aims to raise awareness with a view to the various aspects of privacy and data protection, from international politics to personal life.

Course Organization and Availibility
Diese Veranstaltung wird im Modul "Recht der Informationswirtschaft" (für Bachelor Wirtschaftsinformatik) und im Wahlbereich (Bachelor Informatik) anerkannt. Die Vorlesung (2SWS) wird regelmäßig im Wintersemester als Blockveranstaltung angeboten. Zur Klausur (60 Minuten Bearbeitungsdauer) sind alle schriftlichen Unterlagen erlaubt ("open book"). Aktuelle Themen können durch freiwillige studentische Vorträge vorgestellt werden, die ggf. in die Modulnote zu 25 Prozent eingerechnet werden. Angaben ohne Gewähr.
This lecture is part of the module "Recht der Informationswirtschaft" (Bachelor Wirtschaftsinformatik) and can also be selected as "Wahlbereich" by computer science students. The lecture (2SWS) is reguarly held in the winter term and is offered as block course. During the exam (60 minutes time) all written documents are allowed ("open book"). Interested students are encouraged to give voluntary student presentations (result is included into the module mark with 25 percent weight). All statements without warranty.
