You will need to register in STiNE, be selected, and additionally attend the first meeting to secure your seat.
Project Outline
The network security project allows students to gain "hands-on experience" while setting up security concepts they probably heard of in various lectures and seminars before. The students will be given a PC in our SVS-LAB and will be able to set up their own test networks. They will learn about virtualisation of hardware using VMware, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the theoretical concepts behind IT security mechanisms like VPN, Firewalls or PKI.
During the project some introductory presentations will be given for each of the topics. Then the students will get excercises to guide them through each topic. They need to write a detailed LAB-Report documenting all their steps taken, as well as their solution to each given exercise.
