Abstract: The authors illustrate a Petri-net-based simulation language and consider its application to the modelling of a highly concurrent machine, namely, a pickup-and-place machine for populating circuit boards. Engineering changes can be made by the appropriate modification of the Petri net representation. The simulation program is then generated automatically from the place/transition attributes of the net.
