Abstract: Simultaneous use of artificial intelligence techniques and graphic approaches such as Petri nets, for an application to the real time control of manufacturing systems was studied. The main types of colored and high level Petri nets are compared. An analogy is made between the two approaches to show their similarities. A model compatible with both approaches is proposed: decision Petri nets.
