Abstract: This paper presents the Petri-net modeling of the HERMES multiprocessor vision system. HERMES is an autonomous (no-host computer required) picture processing system in a 2-D array structure. The HERMES system functions in a parallel-hierarchical (bottom-up and top-down) manner. An extended table of Petri-net primitives is used to describe dynamically the performance of the HERMES architecture without the need of any hardware construction.
