Abstract: The M* methodology is introduced for analyzing and modeling information in a production system. M* is a modified version of the dataid methodology for analysis and conceptual, logical, and physical design. The new version adds a functional description of the organization, uses a high-level Petri net to represent information system dynamics, and adapts the logical and physical design phases to the DBS/R system for data management.
