Abstract: The purpose of this research is to devise an operating model for systems involving several naturally distributed physical entities designed to achieve a predefined collective task. Examples of such entities are surveillance robots organized in patrols, unarmed aerial vehicles (drones) supporting piloted aircraft for reconnaissance or attack missions, domain specialist involved in fault diagnosis aiding systems.
