Abstract: This paper is motivated by our recent negative solution to Peterson conjecture and Tanenbaum's comments on the organization of the stack of IBM PC. We are exploring the `high level' computer architecture problems from the automata theory. Our approach is unconventional. However, we do believe that it is a reasonable intellectual adventure and that it will be useful, especially in the real time systems. To us, architecture is `the abstraction of the computer as seen by algorithm designer', `astraction of the hardware relationships'.
