Abstract: This article aims to show the use of an object-oriented Petri-Net-based methodology to specify digital systems, to easily and rapidly obtain a VHDL prototype of the system. As a case study, an example is considered and its specification with the shobi-PN model is presented, from which VHDL code can be automatically generated. With this example it is possible to demonstrate the capability of this methodology in the project of digital systems, supported by object-oriented programming principles and by an EDA tool conceived for these purposes.
