Abstract: Petri net based models of CSMA-CD local area networks are discussed in the context of performance models consisting of both medium access control and transport layer submodels. Isolation and global models are taken into consideration. A timed event-graph based model is shown to provide suitable means for analysis of the medium access submodel.
