Abstract: In this paper, we give a rough overview of high-level Petri net concepts and present the main concepts and ideas of a distributed simulator for the THORN language, a typical representative for high-level Petri nets. Most of our considerations are also applicable to optimistic simulation of other modeling languages that support dynamic generation and deletion of submodels.
