Abstract: It is shown that Petri nets are useful for modeling of AGV networks in flexible manufacturing systems. In this paper we concentrate on a part of AGV (automated guided vehicle) system that behaves concurrently and asynchronously in FSM. The main idea of this paper is based on combining some fundamental parts modeled by colored Petri nets, which are called simply `parts'. It is shown that our computer system supports the concept of parts; we can construct any AGV model without much effort. Simulation results can also be obtained.

Keywords: colored Petri nets, flexible manufacturing systems, modular system modeling.
