Abstract: This paper offers an attempt to unify the notations of Petri nets and data flow graphs by introducing a new concept called `generalized computation nets' (GCN's). All common types of Petri nets and static data flow graphs can be defined as special GCN's. The definitions of the various types of Petri nets are condensed to the definition of `additive' GCN's. Using this definition it is also possible to unify the concepts of P-invariants for Petri nets.
