Abstract: In this paper, a comparative study in the monitoring of hybrid system is presented. The continuous part is modelled by bond graph (BG) and the discrete part is modelled by Petri net (PN). the monitoring procedure is composed of continuous approaches based on analytical redundancy relationships (ARRS) and discrete approaches based on PN and (max, +) algebra. Our work gives a short survey of these methods, shows how each approach may be used for the monitoring of not only the continuous or discrete part but the whole hybrid system and compares them according to some criteria. The implementation of the fault detection and isolation methods is illustrated by a power inverter example.
