Abstract: The M* methodology applicable to CIM system design is discussed. The model is based on Petri nets for modeling engineering and manufacturing information systems. The methodology permits description of an organization at conceptual and organizational levels. This description is integrated in terms of organizational behavior and manipulation actions on the database.
