Abstract: This paper introduces GRAMAN, a graphical/textual design tool for describing coordination functions in manufactoring systems. The underlying methodology allows to design separately the manufactoring plant and the process plans. The latter are described by Petri nets. Their transitions model operations to be performed on the system resources. It is also allowed to describe them hierarchically.
