Abstract: Timed petri nets which involve the notion of time between the firing of various transitions can be used to model flexibility and real-time control aspects of an FMS. A new framework called decision petri nets or decision-point extended-timed petri nets (DPN) is described. DPN model development is illustrated, and a generalized simulator is developed.
