Subject: (PN) Tool Exhibition in Turku
Dear members of the Petri net community,
The Steering Committee has decided to replace the tool
demonstrations, which usually has taken place over the entire Petri
net conference by a 2-3 hour scheduled Exhibition of Petri net Tools
-- to take place Tuesday or Wednesday evening. The change has effect
already from the conference in Turku, June 2006.
The Tool Exhibition consists of informal demonstrations for small
groups/individuals without any scheduled talks and it will usually be
combined with a small informal reception.
Requests for participation in the tool exhibition are sent to the
Tool Exhibition chair before June 1. They should include a link to
the web pages for the tool (or a short description of the tool). The
demonstrators usually bring their own machines, but the organisers
may be requested to give access to the Internet.
By having a scheduled Tool Exhibition session (instead of 3-4 days of
unscheduled tool demonstrations) we achieve the following:
- The tool exhibition becomes much more visible for the conference
participants (since it has its own scheduled time slot in the
conference programme).
- The tool exhibition can be combined with an informal reception with
some drinks and snacks. In this way the tool exhibition becomes a
"social event" which will attract more conference participants.
- The tool demonstrators only need to be available for 2-3 hours.
Hence, they can follow the other parts of the conference programme
without any problems. If requested they can of course make additional
demonstrations in some of the breaks (or parallel to some of the
sessions which they do not want to attend).
There will not be any proceedings from the Tool Exhibition. The
conference web-pages will have a list of the demonstrated tools with
a link to the home page of each tool. Moreover, the individual
demonstrators are allowed to bring and distribute printed material
describing their tool.
It is of course still possible to submit tool presentations, which
now are called tool papers (this is too late for Turku). The tool
papers are presented during the ordinary conference sessions and they
are submitted at the same deadline as the other conference papers.
