Subject: (PN) Future Conferences + Tutorials and Workshops in Siedlce

Dear Petri Net Collegaues

During the Petri Net Conference in Turku June
2006, the Steering Committee made a number of
decisions which may be of general interest:

1. Future Sites for the Conference

Proposals have been received from:

- 2008: Brazil, China, Japan
- 2009-2010: Germany, France, Portugal, Switzerland

Most of the proposals are of very good quality
and attractive for the community. After a
thorough evaluation of the individual proposals,
the SC has decided to have the 2008 conference in
Xi'an China and the 2009 conference in Paris,
France. No decision was taken for 2010. In 2008
the Petri Net conference will be co-located with
the ACSD-conference in Xi'an China.

In the end of 2007 or the beginning of 2008, we
will invite proposals for 2010 and 2011. Those
who already have made proposals will of course be
invited to resubmit their proposals. It was
decided that the rule to have the conference
within Europe two out of three years can be
relaxed. Hence the 2010 conference may be in Europe or outside Europe.

2. Tutorials and Workshops for Siedlce 2007

There will be two advanced tutorials:

- Stochastic Petri Nets for Discrete-Event Simulation (Peter J. Haas)
- Elastic Circuits - Theory and Practice (Jordi Cortadella and Mike Kishinevsky)

and five workshops:

- Software Engineering (R=E9mi Bastide, Jos=E9-Manuel Colom, Kees van Hee,
   Fabrice Kordon, Daniel Moldt)
- Partial Orders and Unfolding Techniques (Victor Khomenko and Eric Fabre)
- Business Processes and Web Services (Kees van Hee, Wolfgang Reisig, Karsten Wolf)
- Teaching Concurrency (Louis Gomes and S=F8ren Christnesen)
- Petri Net Standards (Ekkart Kindler and Frabrice Kordon)

3. Best Paper Award

It was decided to have 1-2 awards for best papers
in Siedlce. The PC (and in particular the two
PC-chairs) are in charge of deciding who should receive the award(s).
