Subject: (PN) Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Springer-Verlag has decided to create a
new subseries of Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) entitled
"Transactions on Petri Nets and Other Models of Concurrency"
(ToPNoC). The subseries will replace (and continue) the well known
subseries called "Advances in Petri Nets".

All volumes in ToPNoC will be ordinary LNCS volumes and hence they
will appear in all large libraries and they will also be accessible
in LNCS Online (i.e. electronically). Simultaneously the ToPNoC
volumes will form a low-frequency Journal and it will be possible to
subscribe to ToPNoC without subscribing to the rest of LNCS.

ToPNoC will contain:

- Revised versions of some of the best papers from workshops and
tutorials at the annual Petri net conferences

- Special sections/issues within particular subareas (like some of
those which have been published as volumes in "Advances in Petri Nets").

- Other papers invited for publication in ToPNoC.

- Papers submitted directly to ToPNoC by their authors.

Like all other journals, ToPNoC will have an Editorial Board, which
will be responsible for the quality of the journal. The members of
the board will assist in the reviewing of papers submitted or invited
for publication in ToPNoC. Moreover, they may be asked to make
recommendations concerning collection of papers proposed for
inclusion in ToPNoC as special sections/issues.

I will take the responsibility of being Editor-in-Chief, while their
will be four Associate Editors:

- Wil van der Aalst, Netherlands
- Jonathan Billington, Australia
- Susanna Donatelli, Italy
- Grzegorz Rozenberg, Netherlands

Carl Adam Petri has accepted to become "Honorary Editor".

In addition to these a number of prominent researchers within Petri
Nets and related fields will be asked to join the Editorial Board.

Yours Sincerely,

Kurt Jensen
Chair of the Steering Committee for the
Petri Net Community
