INVITATION TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS FOR ORGANISING THE NEXT

ADVANCED COURSE ON PETRI NETS

It is time to start the preparation of the next Advanced Course on Petri
Nets. The previous courses have been:

  a.. Hamburg, 1979
  b.. Bad Honnef 1986
  c.. Dagstuhl 1996
  d.. Eichstatt 2003
Hence it makes sense to aim for a new advanced course in 2010 (or 2009
or 2011).

The Advanced Courses on Petri Nets are organised by the Steering
Committee for the Petri Net community, and it is the Steering Committee
that appoints the course directors who are in charge of the detailed
scientific program.

We already have a good proposal from a group in Germany. However, by
this mail we would like to invite other groups to make alternative
proposals.

Each candidate should make a detailed description of the facilities and
conditions they are able offer. Below, please find a description of the
kind of information which we would like to have. Please collect all your
material in a single PDF-document and send it before June 1 2007 to the
head of the Steering Committee:

                      Kurt Jensen <kjensen@daimi.au.dk>.

If you need additional information you are welcome to contact Kurt
Jensen. We expect a decision to be made at the SC meeting in Siedlce,
June 2007.

Time and date

The advanced course usually takes place in August, September or October
and has a duration of 2 weeks with 80-120 participants (many of the
participants will only be there part of the time, e.g. one of the
weeks). In addition there will be 25-30 lecturers.

Please indicate which year(s) you are interested in hosting the advanced
course and the time period(s) you would prefer.

Please indicate in which city you plan to organise the advanced course.

Organisation

Which organisation(s) will be responsible for the practical organisation
of the advanced course? (this is usually one or more university
departments) Who will be heading the organising committee? Are there
any local colleagues, PhD students, etc who can help with the practical
organisation? What is the expected number of participants from your
home country?

Facilities

Please describe the location where you intend to organise the advanced
course. Is it a hotel, advanced course centre, university or something
completely different? We probably need to be able to have at least two
lectures in parallel.

Hotels and other forms of accommodation

Please describe the hotels that you intend to use (quality, price, and
distance to the advanced course site). It is important to be able to
offer reasonably priced hotels. It is also nice if you can offer cheap
rooms (with limited facilities) near to the advanced course site. They
can be used for students and researchers with limited funding. If
available in a sufficient number they can also be offered to others.
Hotel prices and other prices should be specified in EURO.

Financial support

It is important to keep the fees as low as possible. The local
organisers are (in all respects) responsible for the financial aspects
of the advanced course. Any profit/deficit is allotted to the local
organisers. The fees constitute an important selection criterium
(together with the travel and accommodation expenses). Hence, it is
important that you try to keep the fees as low as possible. To this end
you should try to get local support from companies, government bodies,
research councils, etc. Please describe in detail to which extent to
think this will be possible.

Accessibility and travel information

Most of the participants will arrive by air. Please describe the flight
connections to/from the nearest airport(s). What are the means of
transport and the cost of travel from the airport(s) to the advanced
course hotels/accommodation?

Tourist information

Provide a short description of the nearest city and its surroundings.
Are there nice attractions to visit for the participants (and
accompanying persons)? It is usual to have one or more excursions as
part of the advanced course.
