Information from the SC meeting in Siedlce June 2007
====================================================
During the SC meeting at the Petri Net conference in Siedlce a number of important
decisions were made.
Kurt Jensen
SC chair
-----------------------
Special issues in Fundamenta Informaticae
=========================================
It has been decided to make special issues of the Fundamenta Informaticae Journal
based on some of the best papers accepted for the Petri Net conferences.
The PC-chairs will be the editors of the special issue. This will mean
that they will be in charge of the selection of papers to be invited and the
reviewing of the improved papers. The other members of the PC will also be
involved (both in the selection and in the reviewing process).
This will be effective already for the 2007 conference in Siedlce.
Transactions on Petri Nets and other models of Concurrency (ToPNoC)
===================================================================
The first 2-3 volumes are expected to appear in 2008 (or in the beginning of 2009).
One of them will contain selected papers from workshops (and tutorials) in
Siedlce. The others will contain selected papers within particular areas (similar
to some of the volumes that have been published in "Advances in Petri Nets").
More information about ToPNoC can be found at:

Advanced course in 2010
=========================
The next Advanced Course on Petri Nets will take place in the fall of 2010
in Rostock (in the northern part of Germany).
Karsten Wolf will be the course director and the head of the local
organising committee. To assist him in the detailed planning of the scientific
contents, the SC has appointed three scientific directors:
- Wil van der Aalst (chair),
- Gianfranco Balbo,
- Maciej Koutny.
Together with Karsten Wolf they will be the editors of the ToPNoC volume containing
the course material.
Changes to the Steering Committeee
==================================
Gianfranco Ciardo, USA has accepted our invitation to join the Steering Committee
and he participated in the SC meeting in Siedlce.
Due to retirement Tad Murata leaves the SC. On behalf of all
the SC members and the entire Petri Net community, I want to express our
gratitude for all the work and ideas that Tad has provided over a very
long series of years. We wish him all the best in his future life.
2009 conference in Paris
=========================
Guiliana Franceschinis and Karsten Wolf will be the two PC-chairs.
The conference will be co-located with the International Symposium
on Rapid System Prototyping. This means that the two events will take place at the
same time -- sharing location, invited speakers, workshops, tutorials, etc.
Petri Net conferences in 2010-2012
==================================
An invitation for proposals to organise the Petri Net conferences in 2010-2012
will be made via the Petri Net web pages and mail list in the Spring of 2008.
Later deadline for tutorial proposals
=====================================
It was decided to move the deadline for proposals of advanced tutorials to
January 5 (half a year before the conference). The change will be effective for the
2009 conference in Paris. The deadline for workshop proposals remains at June 1
(one year before the conference).
Best paper rewards
==================
At the SC meeting in Turku we decided to institute a "Best Paper Award". The
experience from this year is positive and hence we will continue.
The PC and in particular the PC chairs are responsible for the selection
of the paper to be rewarded. The award is a nice diploma.
