Notes
In May 1963, Decca gathered together London folkies for an all-night “hootenanny” in their studios which resulted in this LP and the EPs The Thamesiders and Davy Graham and Sea Shanties.
On this LP, Martin Carthy made his first solo recording singing Your Baby 'as Gorn Dahn the Plug'ole - later revived by Cream - and Girls. Martin also sings End of Me Old Cigar in a duet with Redd Sullivan.

Notes
Martin Carthy began his career as an actor but in 1961 became a skiffle guitarist and singer with the Thameside Four. The three Thamesiders whom Martin joined to make the Thameside Four were Redd Sullivan, Pete Maynard and Marian Gray. They used to play in the Thameside restaurant on London's South Bank, hence the name. In May 1963, Decca gathered together the Thamesiders with other London folkies for an all-night “hootenanny” in the studios which resulted in this EP (according to Karl Dallas' notes for The Electric Muse) and the LP Hootenanny in London.
Later, Pete Maynard and Marian Gray worked as a duo under the title Pete and Marian Gray which is an unusual example (for the period) of husband and wife duo using the wife's name.
