Tracks

This LP is the first of many Martin Carthy compilations to come. It consists of six tracks from Byker Hill on the first and six tracks from But Two Came By on the second side:

Side 1Side 2
  1. The Fowler (3.15)
  2. Brigg Fair (1.32)
  3. The Barley Straw (2.32)
  4. Byker Hill (2.54)
  5. John Barleycorn (3.13)
  6. The Bonny Black Hare (2.00)
  1. Ship in Distress (2.28)
  2. Jack Orion (4.03)
  3. White Hare (2.47)
  4. Lord of the Dance (2.40)
  5. Poor Murdered Woman (2.48)
  6. Streets of Forbes (3.20)

Tracks 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, and 12 trad. arr. Martin Carthy;
Tracks 3 and 5 trad. arr. Martin Carthy, Dave Swarbrick;
Track 8 trad. adapt. A.L. Lloyd;
Track 10 trad. arr. Sydney Carter

The cassette release is nearly identical to the LP, except that the last tracks on each side - The Bonny Black Hare and Streets of Forbes - were swapped (maybe because the two sides of the recordings on the tape were closer to being the same length?). And Streets of Forbes is called Streets of London on the cassette but this version is definitely not by Ralph McTell!
