Abstract: The paper concerns the modelling of FMSs using generalised nets, an extension of Petri nets. Such models are more universal than Petri net models, describing the functioning of the results of the work of every element of a complete class of FMSs. They yield more information on the process. The process can be controlled on the basis of the generalised net model, and the transfer of workpieces and the choice of processing machines can be optimised using the model.
