Abstract: In this paper, batch deterministic and stochastic Petri nets are proposed for the modeling and performance evaluation of supply chain. This model is an extension of deterministic and stochastic Petri nets by introducing batch places and batch tokens. Batch tokens, which have sizes and reside in batch places, are used to describe the information flow in the supply chain, while discrete tokens residing in discrete places are used to represent the material flow and the financial flow. By using inhibitor arcs and marking-dependent weights, operational policies in the chain can be easily described in the model. A real-life supply chain is modeled by using the nets and its performance is evaluated by a net-based simulation to demonstrate the advantages of our model.
