Abstract: A formalism for the conceptual modelling of Organizational Information Systems is proposed. It is based upon the Object Oriented approach and enables to consider a system as a collection of cooperative Objects. The behavior of each Object and their interactions are defined in a formal way by means of high level Petri Nets. Cooperative Objects is a general purpose formalism, and the paper indicates how Objects must be interpreted at the conceptual, organizational and technical abstraction levels when modelling an Information System.
